Meat is the most important FMCG category within hypermarkets and supermarkets in terms of revenue. The annual turnover of pre-packaged and random weight meat products is nearly 5.6 billion Euros, with over 700,000 tons of products sold (52 weeks ending November ’17).
A good year for the Drinks category
2017 was a significantly strong year for Drinks, a very important category that accounts for over 13bn litres across Hypermarkets, Supermarkets, Small Shops and Discounters. During the year ending September 2017, the volume trend reached +6% in Hypermarkets, Supermarkets, Small Shops and Discounters. This trend is also reinforced by Out of Home dynamics even if the results of this channel are less strong.
